Glamour and elegance
Speaking of the region known for the best wine in the world, you probably think about Bordeaux straight away. Yes, it is about this city, I would like to tell you about the capital of wine , but above all I want to show you what antique collectors are selling.
Located near the coast of the Atlantic Ocean on the banks of the Garonne River, formerly called Burdigala. From the word “gala” meaning the Gauls – people who inhabited the area at that time and “burdin”, means “iron” in Basque. Therefore, in the first century AD, the city was known for blacksmithing.
Today it is famous for its fine wine and it is visited by connoisseurs from around the world. This place impresses with its elegance and splendor, in some way it reminds Paris.. Being in Bordeaux, you can’t miss the great sights that include The Palace de la Bourse, the Gothic cathedral of St. Andrew, or Bridge Pont de Pierre built in the days of Napoleon Bonaparte. Apparently, Bordeaux is worth to be visiting at night to admire the beautifully lit architecture, which further accentuates the charm of this unique city. Referring to the history of Bordeaux, we should remember the Moon Port, which from the mid-sixteenth was one of the most important centers dealing in triangular trade in France
My arrival in Bordeaux was not planned, so I did not have much time to thoroughly explore the city. Of course, in spite of everything I managed to get to one of the largest flea markets, located in Saint Michael Square. A place visited by lovers of antiques. The flea market is organized here every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
